Coronavirus – a statement from the Committee
In view of the developing situation, and in line with Government advice issued 17.00 hrs Monday 16th March, the Committee has taken the decision to suspend all activities of the Stowmarket U3A until further notice. All speaker meetings and interest group activities are suspended with effect from Monday 16 March. The Committee will review the situation and inform you when things can start to get back to normal.
This decision has not been taken lightly but the Committee wishes to protect the members as far as it is able. Stowmarket U3A will not be held responsible should any members disregard this decision.
We hope you all stay safe through this difficult time.
Your Committee is working hard to find ways that groups and individual members can keep in touch and we’ll let you know how as soon as possible.
In the meantime, make sure you sign up to the National U3A Newsletter which will keep you informed about the ongoing situation.

U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.  It consists of local U3As all over the UK, which are charities in their own right and are run entirely by volunteers.

Stowmarket U3A is affiliated to the Third Age Trust, the national organisation, which enables friendly links with neighbouring U3A’s. All local U3As are learning cooperatives which draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership.

The teachers learn and the learners teach”

The U3A approach to learning is – learning for pleasure.  There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained.

At the Stowmarket U3A, different speakers are invited each month to inform and entertain us on a wide range of subjects.
