Welney Wetlands, January 2008

Thirty brave souls ventured out in the wind and rain to visit the Welney Wetlands at the end of January. When we arrived, the sun broke through and we were rewarded with the fascinating sight of hundreds of swans and ducks making the most of their winter quarters. The normally smallish feeding area was flooded out as far as the eye could see.
We saw both the afternoon feed and a spectacular floodlit feed when the birds went into a veritable frenzy to get at the food.
Here’s a slide show of some of the frenzied activitity .
